Pertinent Question : "Tell Me..."

What The F^@k Is Wrong With Me??!?

Linkin Park lyrics, during my drive home today, hit home; thought I'd share. And ask.

MollyMaroon has yet another issue. Je ne sais pas what it could be. The battery tested absolutely deader than a coffin nail yester'een. The battery is less than 5 months old. The new one replacing it does not allow cables to be attached (positive or negative first; don't matter) without shooting voracious sparks to the point of terninal meltdown...

Wits end here, folks; I have other UberPriority financial issues to deal with, so unless a miracle (HA!) occurs, Molly sits deader than ... well, ain't 'dead' dead enough??? So she is until after the 15th. At which point, financial issue resolved once and for all, Molly or no, high-gear preparations to get the hell out of Houston commence.

See ya in a year, up Ozarks way. If, that is, I takes THAT long...

Slainte, folks!

Hi Cygnus,

Just a shot in the dark here, could it possibly be that your wiring harness may have gone bad? Well not yours, Molly's. :D

Just seems like the gremlins have decided to have some fun with you, the bad luck is sure to pass soon enough. Hang in there!

Thanx Felinae!
Yes Ma'am, the battery ground cables-- all THREE of them (egads, these computer cars...)are a consideration. Especially considering all the rain (and Molly's swim!) of late...
I would harken an electronic cable woulda shown on diagnostics, but ... pffff...

I'm hangin' Lady F...
Skin o' me teethes, as the saying goes, but hangin like that cat on a limb in the 'friday's coming!' poster of old!!!

Thanks, my felinae friend...

Well not being there to see it but from your description sounds like you have a dead short either in the positive cable going straight to the battery or it could be in the starter. To pull that much current to make you feel that it is going to melt the terminal it has to be a big wire and or the starter pulling that much power.
Check the positive cable first and make sure that it does not have a worn spot allowing it to short out against the frame and or other miscellaneous metal parts under the hood first. Check it all the way to the starter and see what you find.
If you want you can email me at re.gillett@hotmail.com.

Hiya Rod!

Thanks so much, my man! I'll check that wire by light menana after work.
What i did see of the cable running from the + post looks good, but I'll give 'er a serious gander ...

thanks sincerely for the info, comment and offer to help troubleshoot!

It all DO point to an electrical issue now, hey? Just wish it hadn't waited until it got HOME to die!!

Alas, what is it, Rod?

That it is, m'man; that it is...

Thanks Sincerely, Rod.

sounds like a dead short at the starter...This wouldn't be a foad or mopar now would it. in a foad you'll have to check the entire charging harness.
might I add that I hate foads with a passion...

Dragon--

Buick. Never cared for the "effed" ones m'self...
And still have the "AMC/GMC/Jeep?renault" slogan in me melon ever' time I hear ... hell, I'm so unmechanically inclined I dunno even what falls under the 'mopar' guise...

Thanks for the tip, m'man.
Whatever it is IS electrical, I've no doubt... to kill a months-new battery and THEN try nobly on a new replacement...

Almost makes me want grease-thumbs, not the green ones I have.

ALMOST...

Not quite, mias..
Thanks again, D.

Wish I could offer some advice, but honestly? I know bugger-all about cars in the mechanicals department - I just bless mine into submission and keep the fixer on speed dial. Sometimes he'll come 'round and have a look under the hood for barter, lucky me, but parts stores won't accept dinner for goods. Dang.

Fortune's finer blessings on you, sir...sounds like she's being a b*tch when she SHOULD be acting the Lady.

So sorry you are having such a hard time, my Son. Wish I could help you. My love don't go far in a case like this but that you have and plenty of it. (That don't buy car parts or repairs, does it?)
