ERIN GO BRAUGH!!!
My main want is to let you know that on this day, April 24, 1916, a rebellion commenced, kicked off with a speech by Padraic Pearse from the steps of Dublin, Ireland's National Post Office.
"Independence" took five years.. countless deaths.. and the belief and courage of a People whom simply REFUSE (NOT past tense, folks. We still won't allow) subjugation.
Found this in commemoration:
It is known as the Easter Rising.
It brings a quiver to my lips and tears to my eyes.
And swells my little bird-chest...
Other sh*t happened, too. Years vary, but...
I've learned that Sue Grafton-- author of the Alphabet series of who-done-it notoriety, shares a birthday with Leah Ann Evans [happy Birthday, l'il SIS!:D!]...
And a few other tidbits you may like to take a gander at:D
pretty much all I have for the diem, Folks!
Slainte! and have a safe and family fun-filled (if that ain't as oxymoronic there as here, that is...) weekend!

Nice list of this day in history. I was totally unaware of the "Easter Rebellion". Thanks for the education.
Catman-- My sister's birthday.. I remember it for two reasons:
1) same day as mine-- one month later
2) Easter Rising
As rod says- It is what It is...
:D thanks for the nightly, m'Man...
I had no idea:) Thank you for the education!
Interesting info.
I was telling Cat, after reading your post, that it seems I remember hearing about the uprising from someplace, but for the life of me couldn't remember where from. He said maybe I remember hearing my Grandpa talk about it.
My Maternal Grandpa was Irish, born here in America, Fall River, MA to be exact. :) I don't know, maybe he did talk about it. Well anyway, long story short...I went and Googled the history and read about it.
I like to ramble when I write, can you tell. I honestly don't talk this much in person. :D
Have a great Saturday!

Hi B&R!
Girl, I figured you'd be all over my head with Irish History!lol!
Glad you came by, Lady D...
Hello Felinae!!
Gonna have to see if we can't change that talking thing-- at least for a day! (Typed "night" originally, but that read a bit... well, you know-- it's so unlike ol' Cyg to be anything except bashful...).
You come "ramble" here anytime. Ramble longer, in fact:D.
Glad you found it interesting enough to peruse further!
Smiles back at ya, Lady Felinae!
Haha! I can kind of see how typing night would have read a bit well...it might have raised a few eyebrows. ;) Might of made things kinda interesting around the ol' blogosphere. :D
Have a good night, Cygnus.
